Abergele is a quintessential market town renowned for its neighbouring beaches, hilltop views and wide range of historic sites which include the 19thcentury 250 acre Gwyrch Castle.

Activities and leisure

The moors of Mynydd Hiraethog are nearby and local historic sites with outstanding views can be enjoyed via the hills and woodlands surrounding the town. Walking routes pass the likes of Tower Hill, an Elizabethan watchtower and unrivalled viewing spot, as well as a number of Iron Age Forts and ruins. An 8th century church is also located in the town.

Within the grounds of Gwyrch Castle is Manorafon Farm Park, a popular family-friendly location with a wide variety of animals; a play barn; go-karts; outdoor play areas; and a café. A leisure centre and swimming pool stand close to the centre of the town and sports fans will be impressed by the scenic Abergele Golf Club. The town has a number of high quality Welsh and English speaking schools for all ages including Ysgol Glan Morfa; St George; St Elford Junior; and Ysgol Emrys Ap Iwan. Also within easy reach are Ysgol Glan Clwyd High Schools, Fairholme preparatory school at St Asaph and Rydal Penrhos at Colwyn Bay.

Located in between Colwyn Bay and Rhyl, this once Roman town is ideally located to explore the North Wales coast and the Snowdonia National park in all its glory. The A55 makes for easy commuting to all the North Wales coastal towns and Chester only 30miles away. The route 5 cyclepath is easily accessed, as are bus routes and the Abergele & Pensarn train station with direct links to Holyhead and London.
